Michelle Elvy
is a writer, editor and creative writing teacher originally from the Chesapeake Bay area on the US east coast, now residing in Ōtepoti Dunedin. Her poetry, fiction, essays and creative nonfiction have been published in Aotearoa and internationally. Her poetry has most recently placed in the 2023 Robert Burns Poetry Prize and the 2023 Kathleen Grattan Award for a Sequence of Poems, and she was awarded a residency by the Caselberg Trust for her new poetry collection. Her books include the everrumble and the other side of better. She edits at At the Bay | I te Kokoru, dedicated to New Zealand’s storytelling traditions and innovative new voices, and Flash Frontier: An Adventure in Short Fiction. She is Managing Editor of the international Best Small Fictions series. Her anthology work includes, most recently, A Kind of Shelter Whakaruru-taha, edited with Witi Ihimaera, and examining contemporary Aotearoa’s 21st-century experiences – ‘a storehouse of creative expression’, says Tania Roxborogh – and two forthcoming anthologies celebrating languages of Aotearoa.

Lola Elvy
writes music, poetry, and other forms of creative fiction and nonfiction. She is a central committee member of the New Zealand National Flash Fiction Day organisation and founded and edits the online youth journal fingers comma toes. She teaches writing and music and has a background in music and mathematics, combining her interests in science and art. In 2025, she is enrolling in postgraduate study in Music: Composition with the University of Auckland. She has performed at music and poetry events, and her work has been featured in online and print anthologies in New Zealand and overseas. She is currently working on her first poetry collection.
