Michael Steven is an award-winning poet from Tāmaki Makaurau. He was recipient of the 2018 Todd New Writer's Bursary. The manuscript of his collection Night School won the 2021 Kathleen Grattan Award for Poetry. He is the author of several chapbooks and the collections Walking to Jutland Street (Otago University Press, 2018), The Lifers (OUP, 2020), and Night School (OUP, 2022).
