Marcus Mackenzie
is a spoken word poet born and raised in Tāmaki Makaurau.
He is the current NZ National Poetry Slam champion and has performed across Aotearoa.
His work is varied, but has a proclivity to all things rainbow and he’s a sucker for finding meaning in the little things.
John Goudge
is a musician, actor, director and wordsmith.
John’s music is engaging and usually tells a story, ranging from sweet guitar ballads to deep house music with a chill vibe. He’ll be breaking out an acoustic set for his latest appearance at Poetry Live.
His first connection with Poetry Live began in the early years with gigs at The Grand Central in Ponsonby.
His career began with a solo concert in 1993, & his funky band started appearing regularly at venues in Auckland City from 1999.
In May 2006 John re-launched John Goudge Band, and later it was adjudged the "most outstanding" at ALT TV's Top of the Rocks competition. In 2008 the song Coma appear at number 1 on the Amplifier.co.nz charts.
With a concert at Titirangi Theatre, John released his album Fool Circle in April 2010.
In West Auckland he trains others to be performers at his drama school & music studio, as well as directing theatre shows & music events.
In 2022 John’s one-man show at Pitt St Theatre, The John Show, picked up an ‘Honourable Mention’ at Auckland Fringe for outstanding ‘music and theatre performance.’
