FIRE UP YOUR NOTEBOOKS Poetry Live! is back for 2025, excited to bring you another year of celebrating new voices and seasoned poets. To kick off the year we bring you two acts that work with poetry, music - guest poet Luzie Blaze, and guest musician Satin Avenue.
GUEST POET
Lucie Blaze

Lucie is a passionate multi-disciplinary artist and explorer of life’s mysteries. She is the founder of Born to Create, a platform that celebrates and challenges conventional notions of creativity. Currently, Lucie is producing her debut cabaret show, Cabaret of the Unexpected: Rising Stars Edition, designed specifically to showcase emerging performers. The show premieres on Saturday 22 February at the Phoenix Venue.
Lucie is also one half of the Auckland-based duo Still Thinking, a band deeply influenced by the dark wave and synth-pop scenes of the 1980s. She writes all the band’s lyrics, which are thought-provoking explorations of freedom, resilience, and transformation. Don’t miss their concert on Friday, 28 February, also at the Phoenix Venue.
GUEST MUSICIAN
Satin Avenue

Satin Avenue began in 2021 consisting of Alexia (vocals) and Levin (guitar). In 2023, the band included Teresa on bass and backing vocals. This band was born out of a desire to express emotions, helped us in tough times and encouraged us to go further. The music can be described as indie-jazz, with a rock feel and is ultimately, soulful and heartfelt.
