Guest Poet Koraly Dimitriadis

Writer, Poet & Performer. Raw. Passionate. Fearless.

After living a life prescribed by my working-class, migrant culture, I exploded out in poetry. Today, as a divorced single mother, I have made it my mission to connect with others who have experienced what it’s like to be ostracised, misunderstood, silenced or repressed by culture, religion or society. I do this mainly through my poetry, but I also write short stories and articles. I perform my poetry at one-off events, but I also have created theatre shows with it. I create films of my poems, and sometimes, also, short comedy videos, and I’m also working on a TV show idea.

I am the author of the poetry books Love and F–k Poems, Just Give Me The Pills and She’s Not Normal, and my debut short story collection, The Mother Must Die, is forthcoming with Puncher and Wattmann. I am a public speaker, mentor and workshop facilitator. I am currently trying to find a lovely home for my debut fiction novel, We Never Said Goodbye. I am also working on a non-fiction book, Not Till You’re Married. Supported by Creative Victoria, if you are interested in being part of the research project email nottillyouremarried@gmail.com, I am seeking the children of migrants who had their upbringing in Australia.

"I want to empower others, to help them feel less alone, to help them see that they have choices, because I did not have this and it was very, very hard. Thanks for stopping by. Hope to cross paths with you someday."
