Maggie Coco

Maggie Cocco is an accomplished American musician, composer, performer, and educator known for her versatility across a wide array of musical genres.

Maggie's creative journey has brought her from performing in stadiums with legacy artists to underground scenes exploring the avant garde, and is marked by her dedication to the depth, breadth, and profundity of music.

At the heart of Maggie's musical expression lies 'Science for Sociopaths', an evocative songwriter project that delves deep into themes of systemic, interpersonal, and intrapersonal discord and connection.

Science for Sociopaths's award winning song cycle, 'Like A Moth,' was developed in NZ where live performances often morphed into semi or fully improvised multimedia experiments featuring local artists and audience participation, resulting in gallery exhibitions featuring artworks created at shows.

Partnership with Anzac Road Analog Recording in Whangarei, New Zealand resulted in a years long journey to capture the essence of these unique performances. Joined in the studio by acclaimed cellist Bonnie Schwarz [Good Habits, UK] on cello, the duo perform Cocco’s songs, interlinked by key relationships, motif, and story, with nuance and sensitivity.

The groundbreaking project has earned recognition and acclaim, including the prestigious Best Music Award at the Auckland Fringe Festival, and caught the attention of NZ legacy artists including Dave Dobbyn, Jon TooGood, Jordan Luck, and Loughton Kora for whom Maggie has opened on recent tours. "Like A Moth" is a unique and uniquely appealing show, now on tour with dates in the US, EU, UK, AU, and NZ.
